Nicholas Lapp
Raised in Alexandria, Virginia, I have a BA in Art History from the University of Virginia and an MBA in Marketing from Columbia University in NYC where I lived and worked for 26 years in special events and interior design. My jobs have always involved creative problem solving and fast-paced environments from corporate events, society weddings and fragrance launches to furnishing and designing private clients’ homes. I enjoy wearing many hats and think management should always be hands on, not only to supervise better but to have a closer understanding of how the clients’ needs are being met and how a team functions delivering that. Exemplary customer service has always been a hallmark of my various careers, and I think it is even more important today in the world of cyber competition for products and services. I resettled in Portland, Oregon fourteen years ago to experience the West Coast. Now I have the opportunity to start afresh and relocate. I would like to find an employer that values creativity and originality regardless of how it is applied, be it another design firm or something new arising from the tech innovations that are changing how everything is processed. Apparently I’m old fashioned in that I still believe in manners, dressing nicely and sending thank you notes!
